Angelfish using fins as warning devices!

Have you ever seen your angelfish flash their fins, making them look bigger and sometimes more menacing than when they were all relaxed?

Well, there is a good reason for that.

When angelfish get scared, or feel that there's a predator around, they will usually display their fins. You will normally see them do this when they are trying to show off to others that they are the "king of the area".

Yes, when another angel enters into a territory, the dominate fish will try and scare the other off by flickering their fins.

Next time, take a closer look at your fish, and see what they are doing.

Angels are beautiful creatures, and complex too. Every one of them has their own personality.

Enjoy

Angelfish use their pelvic fins to taste and grope for food, but they also use their feelers as warning devices when coming out of a hiding place. They use their fins to feel their way around and, at times, to assert dominance during a territorial dispute.
